Why I Created The EST Collective: More Than a Brand, It’s a Movement Born Through Struggle
I’ve spent my life learning that greatness isn’t handed to you. It’s built brick by brick, through pain, setbacks, resilience, and relentless belief. For me, The EST Collective isn’t just a clothing line or a content platform it’s a reflection of who I am, where I’ve been, and what I believe in. It’s the story of transformation. It’s the story of reclaiming identity. And most of all, it’s about helping others rise through their own struggles to build something real.
This is the journey behind the movement.
From the Streets to Self-Discovery
I didn’t grow up with a perfect life. My environment shaped me early, fast, hard, and often dangerously. At fifteen years old, I was arrested for selling drugs. By sixteen, I was incarcerated for attempted murder. I spent eight years behind bars serving a sentence that ranged from six to eighteen years. Those were the years when most people are discovering who they are, finishing high school, and dreaming about their future. For me, it was about survival.
Inside, I had to confront myself. I had to face the reality of my decisions, the weight of my past, and the identity I had built in the streets. I joined a gang influenced by the culture I saw around me. West Coast movies, a lifestyle that seemed powerful on the surface but was really built on pain and division. Eventually, I walked away from that life, even though it meant having a hit placed on my head. I refused to conform to hate or let anyone define my destiny.
Those moments changed everything. They planted a seed a deep desire to build something real, not just for myself, but for others like me. People who have walked through darkness and want to rewrite their story. That seed would become The EST Collective years later.
EST: Established Through Struggle
The name wasn’t random. EST stands for “Established Through Struggle.”
Every letter carries weight.
For me, struggle isn’t something to run from. It’s the foundation. It’s what forges identity, strength, and legacy. I didn’t come from privilege. I came from hardship. And instead of letting it define me negatively, I decided to use it as the core of my mission.
“Established Through Struggle” is more than a slogan it’s a creed. It’s a reminder that what you build in the dark, through pain and perseverance, becomes unshakable when the light hits it. That’s what this brand represents.
Why I Built The EST Collective
I created The EST Collective to merge my personal journey with my purpose to inspire and empower others. I wanted to build more than just a product. I wanted to build a platform, a community, and a culture.
The EST Collective is my way of saying: Your story matters. Your struggle matters. And you can build something powerful from it.
This movement blends everything I live:
🏋️♂️ Discipline & fitness, because physical transformation builds mental strength.
✍️ Storytelling & reflection, because healing comes from owning your past.👕 Style & identity, because what you wear should represent what you stand for.
🔥 Mindset & action, because change only happens when belief meets movement.
I wanted a space where I could talk about my journey, train like an athlete, build like an entrepreneur, inspire like a mentor, and create like an artist all under one banner. That banner is The EST Collective.
The Early Days: Building Brick by Brick
When I started, there was no big team, no investor backing me, no blueprint. It was me, my vision, and my relentless drive. I started sketching ideas, writing out what the brand represented, and recording my story. I knew that if I stayed true to the mission, it would connect.
I built the website myself. I created Instagram pages. I wrote blogs, designed shirts, mapped podcast episodes, and brainstormed how to tell this story in a way that felt authentic not polished to the point of losing its soul, but refined enough to show that we’re building something real and lasting.
I talked about discipline, resilience, and mindset. I documented my training for half marathons. I shared the setbacks, the injuries, the comebacks. I showed people what it looks like to build in real time because EST is about the process, not just the product.
Helping Others: The Heart of the Movement
From day one, this was never just about me. It’s about us the people who have been counted out, underestimated, or written off. It’s for the ones who know struggle intimately and are ready to turn it into strength.
I built The EST Collective to help others:
- People coming home from incarceration who need a blueprint for growth.
- Individuals stuck in cycles of doubt who need a spark to reignite their fire.
- Dreamers grinding on their side hustles after their 9–5s.
- Runners hitting the pavement before sunrise chasing physical and personal goals.
- Anyone who believes they’re meant for more, but needs a reminder that the journey is worth it.
Whether it’s through the blogs, the podcasts, the shirts, or the community my goal is to create tools, stories, and spaces where people can rise.
The Culture We’re Creating
When you wear an EST tee, read an EST blog, or listen to one of our episodes, I want you to feel something real.
I want you to feel the weight of the message
“Established Through Struggle.”
This culture is built on:
- Grit – Doing the work when nobody’s watching.
- Growth – Evolving mentally, physically, and spiritually.
- Greatness – Defining success on your terms.
- Legacy – Building something that lasts beyond you.
The EST Collective isn’t chasing trends. We’re building legacy.
The Vision Ahead
This is just the beginning. My vision for The EST Collective goes far beyond clothing or content.
I see a world where:
- There are EST events and meetups, where communities train together, learn together, and grow together.
- There’s a full media platform, sharing real stories of resilience, discipline, and victory.
- EST Running Clubs and fitness challenges push people to their limits mentally and physically.
- The brand becomes a symbol when someone wears EST, people know what it stands for.
Every piece of content, every shirt, every podcast episode, every post is a brick in that vision. And I’m committed to laying those bricks every single day.
What It Means to Me
When I see someone wearing an EST tee, reposting our content, or sharing their own “Established Through Struggle” story it hits different. This isn’t about fame or hype. This is personal.
It means that something that was once just an idea in my head forged through years of mistakes, lessons, and growth now lives in the world. It means people see themselves in this movement. And that’s everything to me.
This is why I wake up early. This is why I train. This is why I write. This is why I create.
Because someone out there needs to know that their story isn’t over it’s just beginning.
